About Us

Gordon Mycology Laboratory, Inc. (GML) was established in 1997 to perform laboratory analyses on indoor mold inspection samples. We began performing mold inspections in 1999 and our focus at the time was residences and has now expanded to include all indoor environments.

The owner of the company, Deborah Gordon, is also the Laboratory Director and Senior Field Investigator. She holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in biology and has been in the microbiology field for over 25 years.

GML has been a member of the AIHA (American Industrial Hygiene Association) as well as the local chapter (New England Industrial Hygiene Association), the IAQA (Indoor Air Quality Association), the AIAQC (American Indoor Air Quality Council), and the American Society for Microbiology since 1999. We are also an associate member of the New England chapter of The American Society for Home Inspectors (ASHI). We receive and keep up to date with literature from other relevant organizations including the EPA, New York City Department of Health, IICRC, and ACGIH. These organizations present the most current and accurate methods for testing indoor environments for fungi, bacteria, as well as non-biological irritants; they also provide important protocols and standards for mold remediation.

GML does not perform remediation services as this is a conflict of interest, however we are up to date with remediation procedures and standards. We offer our clients remediation recommendations in our reports; we can recommend several well-respected companies that have long histories of proven success in the mold remediation business.
